PATCHOGUE, N.Y.- The Sarah Lawrence College women's swim team swept an away meet on Saturday, proving victorious over St. Joseph's-Long Island, Maritime, and John Jay. The Gryphons narrowly defeated St. Joseph's-L.I. by a score of 93-91 and more handedly toppled Maritime and John Jay by scores of 113-55 and 111-55. The Gryphons now sit at 5-0 after two weekends of meets, including two conference victories this weekend.
A number of Gryphons ended with first-place finishes, including the 200 yard medley relay team of
Ella Hernan,
Katherine McCane,
Keilani Talma, and
Eva Guarda Vazquez who finished with a time of 02:01.83, over 11 seconds quicker than the second-place finishing team from John Jay.
Liv Anton also notched a victory for the Gryphons, proving victorious in the 200 yard freestyle ahead of teammate
Krista Burgess and St. Joseph's-L.I.'s Meghan Skakandi.
Talma and
Josie Laur took home another first-and-second-place finish combination in the 50 yard freestyle, finishing ahead of Maritime's Maeve Lavery. McKane continued her strong start to the season by taking home first place in both the 200 yard individual medley and the 100 yard breaststroke to add to her relay victory and Talma did the same with a victory in the 100 yard butterfly competition. Anton added a victory in the 500 yard freestyle and a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle medley to her already-impressive day of competition.The Sarah Lawrence 200 yard freestyle relay team took home second place, finishing just behind St. Joseph's-L.I. and almost seven seconds ahead of the third place team.
