STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.Keilani Talma's three event wins along with two event wins and a second place from Genevieve Chiappetta propelled the Sarah Lawrence College women's swimming team at the College of Staten Island Tri-Meet on Saturday afternoon.

SLC got off to a hot start when the team of Chiappetta, Talma, Katherine McKane and Josie Laur took first place in the first event of the day, which was the women's 200-yard medley relay.

Chiappetta touched the wall at the exact same time as second place Mount Saint Mary's Kriten Dwight at 33.49, but McKane used her talents to build up a six second lead before Talma stretched it and added two seconds to the lead after the third leg. Laur then cruised in for the final touch as her teammates erupted in jubilation with the final time of 2:03.72 compared to MSMC's 2:11.57.

Chiappetta had just the men's 200-yard medley relay and the women's 1,000-yard free events to rest before she competed in the women's 200-yard freestyle event. Chiappetta would go on to finish second in the race with a time of 2:13.82.

The next women's event would see another SLC win and the first of two individual victories for Talma on the day. Talma, a first-year student-athlete, brought home the 50-yard free crown, which many say is the equivalent of the 100-meter dash in track & field.

Talma's time of 25.70 was 1.25 second faster than second place. A total of three Gryphons finished in the top six in this event, including Laur in fourth place with a time of 29.16 and Allie Abemayot in sixth with a time of 39.94.

Talma also took top honors in the 13th event of the day, which was the women's 100-yard butterfly event, finishing with a time of 1:02.03.

Chiappetta won event 19, the 500-yard free mini-marathon race, with a time of 5:53.78, which was over eight seconds faster than the second-place swimmer.

McKane also got into the mix with an event win when she completed the 200-yard individual medley almost 5.5 seconds faster than second place with a time of 2:21.81.
