FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence College men's basketball team faced off against the Farmingdale State Rams in the first round of the Skyline Tournament on Tuesday evening. The Gryphons fell to the top-seeded Rams 94-73.
NUMBERS
- Justin Bailey led all players with 26 points. The senior added a game-high 12 rebounds for his 11th double-double of the year – the fourth most in program history.
- Amos Grey scored 13 points. The first-year guard tallied four assists and two steals.
- David Gelb had career-highs in points, blocks, and three-point field goals made with 13, four, and three, respectively.
- Liam Barry recorded 10 points and a game-high six assists.
- The SLC defense had six blocks and seven steals.
- Sarah Lawrence shot a respectable 37 percent from deep.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Farmingdale built a 10-point advantage over the first nine minutes of the game, leading 26-16. SLC went on an 11-7 run, narrowing the deficit to five at the 7:33 mark. The Rams outscored the Gryphons 17-6 for the rest of the half, entering the locker room with a 49-33 lead.
The margin shrunk to nine at the 12:41 mark of the second half thanks to a 23-16 run from the Gryphons. The Rams increased the lead to 20 over the next six minutes, maintaining the edge for the rest of the night.
