BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence College men's volleyball team hosted the Neumann University Knights in a non-conference bout on Tuesday night. The Gryphons fell to the Knights 3-0 in straight sets.
Set 1
The teams were evenly matched early on, resulting in a 6-5 score in favor of the Knights. Up 8-6, Neumann ripped off six unanswered points, creating an eight-point hole for the Gryphons. The Knights outscored SLC 11-10 for the remainder of the set, taking it 25-16.
Nate Davis had three kills.
Set 2
SLC trailed 8-5 and then recorded three straight points, evening the set. An 8-4 run by the Knights produced a 16-12 advantage for the away team. Neumann secured the set victory with a 9-2 closing-run.
Set 3
Neither team held the edge in the final set, trading points throughout. SLC was down 15-11 then fired off four unanswered points, evening the set. A Neumann point followed by two Neumann errors made it 17-16 in favor of the Gryphons. The Knights outscored Sarah Lawrence 9-4 the rest of the way, winning the set 25-21.
