MVB | SLC Earns Fourth Conference Win, Defeating Yeshiva 3-2

NEW YORK - Nate Davis eclipsed 30 kills for the fourth time this season, lifting the Sarah Lawrence College men's volleyball team to a 3-2 win in a Skyline Conference match with Yeshiva on Sunday afternoon. 

NUMBERS
  • Davis finished with 37 kills on 93 total attacks. The sophomore outside hitter also tallied 15 digs. 
  • Lance De Leoz recorded a career-high four service aces to go along with four kills and 14 assists. 
  • Juan Paris posted a team-high 21 assists.
  • Lukas Gates led the team in digs with 17. 
  • The win moved the Gryphons 4-2 in Skyline Conference play, good enough for third place in the conference standings.

FIRST SET
Sarah Lawrence trailed 14-12 before Yeshiva ripped off a 9-1 run. The Maccabees took the set 25-15.

SECOND SET
The Gryphons were staring down a 2-0 deficit, trailing 21-19 late in the second set. Sarah Lawrence put together a set-clinching 6-0 run, winning 25-21. De Leoz served up three consecutive aces for points 22,23, and 24. 

THIRD SET
The third set was the closest of the afternoon. The margin never stretched beyond three points. With the teams tied at 19, Yeshiva scored three unanswered points and held the small lead for the rest of the set, taking it 25-23. 

FOURTH SET
The fourth set was all Sarah Lawrence. SLC used an early 14-6 run to create some  breathing room. The Gryphons then ripped off a 6-0 run, going up 21-10. SLC won the set 25-12. 

FIFTH SET
SLC was down 11-8 then put together a 5-0 run, going up 13-11. The Gryphons outscored 2-1 after a Yeshiva timeout, winning the set and the match.
