BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence College men's volleyball team split a tri-match with the College of Mount Saint Vincent and New Jersey City University on Saturday afternoon.
In game one, the Gryphons trailed 2-0, battling back and defeating the Dolphins 3-2. The win moved the Gryphons into the final playoff spot for the Skyline Conference Tournament. SLC awaits the results of the Purchase, Ramapo, and Yeshiva tri-match tomorrow to determine its postseason fate.
SLC fell 3-0 in the second match against NJCU.
MATCH 1
Nate Davis finished with 34 kills and seven total blocks.
Juan Paris had 33 assists. SLC dropped the first set 25-19, then lost the second set 25-23. The third set was knotted at eight a piece, then Gryphons went on a 15-7 run, creating a 23-15 advantage. SLC won the set 25-19. Sarah Lawrence was down 16-15 in the fourth set then scored five unanswered points. The Gryphons maintained its lead until the last point, forcing a fifth and final set. The fifth set was deadlocked at nine. SLC went on a match-clinching 6-2 run, winning 15-11.
MATCH 2
SLC fell to the Gothic Knights in straight sets.
Nate Davis led the way with 12 kills.
Juan Paris was the lead distributor with 12 assists.
