YONKERS, N.Y. - Lainie Cadieux scored the lone goal of the day for the Sarah Lawrence College women's soccer team as the Gryphons shutout Bard College 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. With the win, SLC moved to 2-1 on the year. 

The Gryphons dominated possession early on, resulting in four shots in the first 22 minutes. Cadieux beat the Bard keeper in the 23rd minute. Samantha Lungren hit a corner kick into the penalty area. The ball bounced around before finding the foot of Cadieux. The senior captain hit a strike with her left foot from the left side of the box, burying the ball past the goalie into the lower opposite corner. The Gryphons' defense allowed just one shot in the first half. 

SLC looked to add insurance in the second half, keeping up the pressure and creating multiple scoring opportunities. Viktoria Balbin had a beautiful shot from about 25 yards that was heading for the top left corner before it was stopped by the diving Bard goalie. Kailee Call just missed the top right corner on a strike that was set up by great ball movement in the 83rd minute. 

The Gryphon defense held strong, allowing only two shots in the second half. Maya Pfeiffer and Bridgette Lee combined for the shutout.
