Sarah Lawrence Takes Second Place in Skyline Championships

1.29.23

PURCHASE, N.Y. - After two days of swimming, the Sarah Lawrence women's swim team took home second place in the 2023 Skyline Conference Championships at Purchase College. The Gryphons finished with 300 points on the weekend behind only the US Merchant Marine Academy who took home their second straight Skyline Championship victory. This is the second consecutive year that the Gryphons have finished as Skyline Runner-Up.

On top of earning a second-place finish in the team event, first year swimmer Keilani Talma earned the Skyline Rookie of the Year honor for her outstanding performance throughout the entire season. Talma continued her success this weekend with a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle along with multiple second-place finishes. She also contributed to second-place finishes in all four relay events, helping the Gryphons earn key points to distance themselves from the rest of the field.

Senior Katherine McKane continued her strong season with a victory in the 400 individual medley, multiple top-three finishes and contributions in the relay events as well. McKane set both a school and conference record in the 400 individual medley with her time of 4:48.34, over 13 seconds quicker than the second place finisher who ended the event with a time of 5:01.57.
