Three Gryphons Score in Patchogue; Gryphons Earn another Skyline Victory

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence College women's soccer team traveled to Patchogue to take on the St. Joseph's Long Island Golden Eagles. The Gryphons used scores from three different players to claim their fifth conference victory on the season to improve to 5-0-2 in Skyline play.

Top Performers
  • Grace Carter opened the scoring for the Gryphons with a third-minute goal off assists from Cora Colvin and Katey Beaver
  • Beaver struck again in the second half, finding Colvin for a goal and earning herself her second assist of the contest
  • Lily Matalus then earned her first assist of the game, finding sophomore Viktoria Balbin three minutes later to give the Gryphons a 3-0 lead

How it Happened

The Gryphons opened the scoring early and maintained their lead throughout the game. The Sarah Lawrence defense held the Golden Eagles at bay, limiting the hosts to just one shot in the first half and allowing just one corner. As the second half started, the Gryphons maintained their 1-0 lead until Colvin found the back of the net in the 59th minute to give the visitors some insurance. Three minutes later Matalus found Balbin to give the Gryphons a 3-0 advantage that they would golf onto for the remainder of the contest.
