Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Gryphons Hold Rams Scoreless; Defeat FSC 1-0 in Championship Rematch

YONKERS, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's soccer team found themselves in a tough Skyline battle on Saturday afternoon, hosting the 2022 Skyline women's soccer runner-ups in the Farmingdale State Rams. The Gryphons claimed the conference tournament victory last season against the Rams in penalty kicks, but Saturday's win marks the first time that SLC has defeated FSC in a regular-season matchup.

Top Performers
  • First Year Katey Beaver struck again, scoring her eighth goal of the season straight out of halftime to give SLC the victory.
  • Cora Colvin found Beaver for the game-winning goal, the junior's fifth assist of the season
  • Goalkeeper Bridgette Lee held steady in the net, saving six balls in the winning effort

How it Happened

The first half was a stalemate as neither team took advantage of what few opportunities they had, with the Rams leading in shots and keeping the pressure on the Sarah Lawrence defense. Colvin found Beaver in front of the net with a beautiful pass to the first year who finished the play to give the Gryphons the eventual game-winning score. The remainder of the game was very similar to the beginning, with Colvin and the Gryphons getting a few opportunities at the goal but ultimately neither team could get ahead of the other.

Up Next

The Gryphons (9-4-3, 6-0-2) will return to play on Wednesday when they travel to Kings Point to take on the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
