Two Second-Half Goals Propel Gryphons to Victory over Pratt

YONKERS, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's soccer team defeated Pratt Institute 2-0 on Monday evening. The Gryphons used two second-half goals to defeat the Cannoneers in the final week of the season.

Top Performers
  • Aiden Roney opened the scoring for the Gryphons early in the second half
  • First Year Dylan Peavoy scored his second goal of the season to secure the victory in the 87th minute

How it Happened

The Gryphons were on the offensive attack for the majority of the first half, outshooting the Cannoneers 12-2 despite the visitors leading in corner opportunities 3-1. Nicholas Fajardo placed a shot on goal in the 19th minute, but a save by Pratt's keeper would allow the contest to remain scoreless. Kaeden Potts registered two shots on goal in the first half, both of which were stopped by the Pratt keeper. Peter Miles registered a shot in the final two minutes but it would be off and the game would remain tied at the half.

The Gryphons would strike first in the second half, as Connor Saul found the aforementioned Roney in the box and the sophomore tapped the ball past the keeper to give Sarah Lawrence a one-goal lead. The two teams would remain knotted up for nearly the remainder of the contest, before Peavoy made it two straight games with a goal. The Cannoneers had a corner kick in the 88th minute but could not capitalize and as the final buzzer rang, the Gryphons earned a hard-fought victory by a 2-0 score.
