BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's volleyball team hosted New Jersey City University on Wednesday in their first Skyline match at the Campbell Sports Center this season, falling three sets to none. This was the first Skyline match of the season for the Gothic Knights, who boast a strong 6-4 record including a loss to top-ranked Stevens.
By the Numbers
- Felix Massey continued his solid stretch of play, leading Sarah Lawrence with seven points stemming from seven total kills
- Fellow senior Juan Paris led the Gryphons with four digs and added two service aces as well
How it Happened
The Gothic Knights took control early, jumping out to a 5-0 lead before taking the first set 25-14. A run by the Gryphons towards the end of the set closed the gap slightly, including a service ace from Paris, but it would not be enough as NJCU would close out the set handedly. The second set started much more competitively as the two teams went back-and-forth until NJCU claimed a 7-5 lead. The Gothic Knights would proceed to pull away thanks to a 7-0 scoring run a few minutes later to extend their lead to 18-7 before ending the set with another victory, this time by a score of 25-11. The third and final set of the evening would be the most lopsided, with NJCU proving victorious by a score of 25-9. The Gryphons were unable to string many points together to go on any long scoring runs and the Gothic Knights had an answer to every good hit that the Gryphons could muster.
