Gryphons Travel to Jersey City for Skyline Tri-Match

JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The Sarah Lawrence men's volleyball team faced off against the third- and fourth-ranked teams in the conference as they battled against the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins and the hosting NJCU Gothic Knights.

How it Happened

In the first match the Gothic Knights would show why they are ranked third in the Skyline, getting out to a 1-0 lead despite a close first set and refusing to look back. The Gothic Knights scored the final 12 points of the second set to claim a 25-7 victory and despite a late three-point run by the Gryphons, the hosts would also take the third set, this time by a score of 25-16. NJCU would also defeat Mount Saint Vincent three sets to none to sweep the tri-match.

In the second match of the day, the Dolphins would get ahead of the Gryphons after taking the first set by a score of 25-16. The Gryphons would battle back to claim the second set in similar fashion, by a score of 25-17 as they went on a seven-point scoring run to end the set after leading just 18-17. Mount Saint Vincent took the last two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-10 thanks to many of Samuel Martinez's match-high 13 kills.
