Gryphons Celebrate Senior Day to End 2023 Men's Tennis Season

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's tennis team wrapped up their 2023 season as they hosted Bard College for a non-conference match on Tuesday evening. The Gryphons also celebrated senior day prior to the match as coaches Dan Herbst and Joey Binder acknowledged the contributions that this year's senior class had made to the program. Sarah Lawrence fell to the Raptors by a score of 9-0 as the visitors swept all three doubles matches in shutouts.

Nikita Knecht and Felix Massey played their second match of the season as a pair, falling to an impressive pairing from Bard by an 8-0 tally in first doubles. A duo of Aidan Roney and Vance Johnson would pair up for the first time this season in second doubles, falling by way of shutout to Bard's Drew Soleiman and Duncan McDonald. Reid Bean and Desmond Luck paired up in third doubles for the second straight match, this time falling 8-0 to the pair from Bard.

In singles play, the Gryphons would play two tight matches as both Clayton Miller and Massey would battle their opponents in back-and-forth games, both eventually falling to their opponents from Bard. Miller and Bard's Noah Gulla battled throughout a two-set match where both players displayed their prowess on the court before Gulla would take both sets, by scores of 6-1 and 6-0. Massey would have the best performance for the Gryphons on the day, battling Bard's McDonald in back-to-back 6-2 sets. Leon Bronshvag and Peter Fathi would both take a game each for Sarah Lawrence at second and sixth singles before the remaining Gryphons fell in straight 6-0 sets.

Sarah Lawrence (1-10, Skyline 0-7) has now rounded out the 2023 season and will return to action next spring, returning many key contributors including the aforementioned first year Miller and his duo partner, Sophomore Simon Kopecky.
