Women's Swimming 2022-23 Season Recap

7.18.23

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's swim team completed the 2022-23 season with back-to-back impressive finishes at the Skyline and Metropolitan Championships. The team earned a second place finish behind Merchant Marine at the Skyline event before setting two program records at the Metropolitan Championships the next month.

Top Performances
  • First Year Keilani Talma broke the program record for the 200 freestyle at Mets, finishing the race with a time of 1:57.89
  • Senior Katherine McKane joined Talma with a record-breaking performance of her own at the event, finishing the 400 I.M. in 4:45.57, breaking her own school record

The Gryphons had a successful 2022-23 season overall, finishing the regular season with just one loss to a Skyline opponent, the eventual conference champions, the Mariners of USMMA. In addition to Talma and McKane securing their places in the record books, many Gryphons contributed to the team's success including Josephine Laur, Ella Hernan and Genevieve Chiappetta who all earned second team all-conference honors for their participation in any of the four Sarah Lawrence relay teams who took home second place at the Skyline championships. The Gryphons and coach Dan Drury will look to continue their success in the 2023-24 season as they will lose McKane to graduation but will return Talma, Laur, Hernan, Chiappetta and other key contributors.
