BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced their 2022-23 All-America Scholar-Athlete Awards as well as their Team Academic Rankings. The Sarah Lawrence softball team finished just outside of the top ten in the team rankings while six individual Gryphons were named All-America Scholar-Athletes.
Sarah Lawrence finished tied for 11
th in the Easton/NFCA Team Academic Awards, ranking as the top school in New York (tied with St. John Fisher) and the top Skyline school in the rankings. The Gryphons as a team earned a GPA of 3.68 this past year, displaying their achievements in the classroom in addition to their athletic accomplishments.
Six program members earned a spot on the Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete List, as
Anna Brand,
Maeve Collins,
Sophie Grenke,
Emily Leonard,
Shirin Pechefsky and
Ruby Tappan all qualified for the recognition. Brand, a rising senior from West Milford, N.J. led the Gryphons from behind the plate last season while Collins and Tappan contributed from the middle infield. Grenke and Leonard anchored the outfield, patrolling center and left field respectively while Pechefsky led the Gryphons on the mound as a first-year, including a 12-strikeout performance in the last weekend of the season.
