Gryphons host Undefeated Roadrunners

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's volleyball team welcomed undefeated Ramapo into the Campbell Sports Center on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup. The visiting Roadrunners showed why they are yet to lose a match, taking the bout in three sets.

How it Happened

The Roadrunners asserted themselves early with an 8-0 lead to start the first set and despite a 6-1 run in response by the Gryphons, another six-point run by the visitors would keep them steadily ahead. Two late-set kills by Milly Guemple and Carolyn Kelly would not be enough to keep the Gryphons close and the visitors would take the first set 25-13.

The second set was a similar story, with Ramapo getting ahead 9-1 and eventually finding themselves with an 18-5 advantage. Kelly would tally another kill for SLC but the Roadrunners would take seven of the next eight points to take the set 25-7.

The third and final set was eerily similar to the first two, with Ramapo ahead 11-4 despite two early-set kills by Kazos. The Gryphons would find some momentum late in the set, taking three straight points thanks to another Kazos kill and one of Hardin Zollo's two service aces, but the visitors would stay in command to take the set 25-12.

The Gryphons (2-3, Skyline 1-0) will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Centenary for a tri-match with the hosting Cyclones and Medgar Evers. The Gryphons open the day with an 11:00 a.m. matchup against the host school before taking on Medgar in the 1:00 p.m. match.
