Gryphons Draw with Knights after Three-Goal Effort

YONKERS, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's soccer team endured the elements on Saturday as they hosted the Knights of Mount Saint Mary College for their second Skyline contest of the season. The Gryphons and Knights ended the 90 minutes knotted up at three goals apiece and SLC found themselves drawing for the third straight contest.

Top Performers
  • Viktoria Balbin scored her first goal of the season for Sarah Lawrence
  • First Year Katey Beaver scored her fourth goal of the season to give the Gryphons a 2-1 advantage
  • Grace Carter tallied her first score of the year in the 50th minute

How it Happened

The Gryphons got ahead early as Viktoria Balbin took a redirected ball and got it past the Mount Saint Mary keeper. The Gryphons would hold their lead for over 25 minutes until the Knights scored the equalizer in the 39th minute. The Gryphons would waste no time as the team's leading goal scorer, Beaver, would find the back of the net two minutes later to give the Gryphons a lead that they would carry into the halftime break.

Five minutes into the second half, Carter took a rebound and put it past the keeper, extending SLC's lead to 3-1 and giving the Gryphons an insurance score. The Knights would score twice in the next ten minutes to tie the game and give Sarah Lawrence its second draw in two Skyline contests.

Up Next
