Colvin and Chaffin Score Multiple Goals; Gryphons Defeat Panthers 5-0

YONKERS, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's soccer team defeated Old Westbury handedly on Tuesday night with a final score of 5-0. Two Gryphons scored multiple goals and three total players found the back of the net for the home team.

Top Performers
  • Hannah Chaffin scored twice for the Gryphons and added an assist, finding teammate Cora Colvin in the first half
  • Colvin scored twice on her own, wrapping up the first half's scoring and opening the scoring in the second half
  • Sophomore Viktoria Balbin opened scoring for SLC and assisted Chaffin on her first goal

How it Happened

Balbin opened the scoring as captain Sam Lungren put a through ball in behind the Old Westbury defense and Balbin put it past the keeper to give the Gryphons a 1-0 lead. Balbin would play a key role in SLC's second goal as well, putting a corner kick in the box so that Chaffin could head it in for a 2-0 lead. The third goal came on a run stemming from a Natalia Chow header out of the defensive zone, to Chaffin at midfield who would put a ball ahead for Colvin to get a one-on-one and put the ball in the bottom left of the goal. The fourth goal came from Colvin again, as Sela Corliss found her right outside the box and the junior placed the ball in the top left corner out of reach of the keeper. The fifth and final score came from Chaffin right inside the box as she put the ball past the keeper into the top right corner of the goal.
