First-Half Score by Thome Guides Men's Soccer to Draw with Pratt

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Pratt Institute on Tuesday night at Randall's Island Park. Asefa Thome opened the scoring early, but a late Pratt goal forced the Gryphons to settle for a draw in the tightly contested match.

Notable Performers

  • Asefa Thome scored his third goal of the season in the 11th minute, giving the Gryphons an early lead
  • Sarah Lawrence goalkeeper Jonah Zalis made one save in the first half, while Jacob Freed recorded two stops in the second half

How it Happened
Sarah Lawrence started the match aggressively, dominating possession and creating numerous chances in the first 45 minutes of play. Thome's goal came in the 11th minute when he pounced on a loose ball in the box to put the Gryphons ahead. Despite several attempts to double the lead, Pratt's Carter Tillman made multiple saves down the stretch and the score remained 1-0 at halftime.

Pratt came out stronger in the second half, applying more pressure and creating opportunities of their own. After almost 40 minutes of scoreless soccer in the second half, Pratt's Dylan Costa latched onto a pass from Hadad and found the back of the net to level the score at 1-1. Both teams had chances in the final eight minutes, with neither able to find the back of the net as the final buzzer rang and the game finished with a 1-1 scoreline.
