NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence equestrian team delivered a solid showing at the New Paltz Horse Show this weekend, taking home ten total ribbons as multiple riders placed their respective events, highlighted by a first-place finish in the Novice Flat by
Sophie Gaynes.

Maeve Lamson had a strong outing, placing 3rd in Intermediate Flat and 5th in Limit Fences.
How it Happened
Sophie Gaynes led the way for the Gryphons, claiming the top spot in Novice Flat. Her performance earned her the first-place ribbon and set a high standard for the rest of the team.
Layne Barr and
Victoria Bellonci both placed well in the Introductory Flat, each securing 3rd place finishes. Their strong rides underscored Sarah Lawrence's consistency across the board. In Pre-Novice Flat, Taila Rosenthal delivered a commendable 3rd place performance, adding to the team's strong showing in the flat events.
Maeve Lamson also contributed significantly, earning 3rd place in Intermediate Flat while adding a 5th place finish in Limit Fences. Meanwhile, Summer Stammley put in a solid ride to place 4th in Novice Flat, and
James Chipperfield rounded out the results with a 5th place finish in Limit Flat.
Elena Wagstaff earned 6th place in both Limit Flat and Limit Fences, performing well in a competitive division.

The Gryphons will compete again next weekend at the Marist Horse Show on Saturday, October 26th as the team looks to continue its strong start to the 2024-25 season.
