HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - The Sarah Lawrence equestrian team totaled 18 ribbons in a pair of shows at Centenary University on Saturday. The team delivered a series of strong rides, highlighted by
Layne Barr and
Leena Mangaldas earning top honors in their respective classes and
Sophie Gaynes qualifying for regionals.
Barr claimed first place in the Introductory Flat, later adding a third-place finish in the same division, while Mangaldas took first in the Pre-Novice Flat, showing poise and control. In the Intermediate divisions,
Maeve Lamson showed impressive versatility, placing third in the Intermediate Flat and fifth in Intermediate Fences, as well as earning sixth in the Limit Fences in the second show of the day.
Sophie Gaynes excelled in the Novice Flat with a pair of fourth-place finishes, securing her qualification for Regionals, a testament to her consistency and dedication.
In the Pre-Novice Flat,
Talia Rosenthal finished fifth in one show and sixth in another, while Mangaldas secured a fourth-place position in the event in addition to her first-place result. The Limit Flat saw solid team representation, with
Elena Wagstaff and
James Chipperfield finishing sixth and fifth, respectively, in a competitive field. Meanwhile, in the Introductory Flat division,
Nyah Raposo's efforts led to a fourth and fifth place, while
Victoria Bellonci captured sixth in both of her rides, contributing steady points to the team's overall standing.
This event showcased the team's depth and determination across all divisions, highlighted by Barr's and Mangaldas's standout wins, Gaynes's qualification for Regionals, and strong contributions from each rider. These results reflect both the individual growth and team effort that mark a successful competition season.
