Anderson-Strawder and Haymore Lead Offensive Attack while Coughlin Sets Single-Game Steal Record as Gryphons Defeat Panthers on the Road

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's basketball team defeated the Old Westbury Panthers on Saturday by a score of 62-43. The Gryphons now sit at .500 in conference play and sit in the conference's final playoff spot with two weeks remaining in the regular season.

Top Performers
  • Khailand Anderson-Strawder paced all players in scoring with 26 points and added 11 rebounds
  • Kendall Haymore added 16 points while pulling down 13 rebounds for SLC
  • Colleen Coughlin set a program single-game record with 10 steals while also adding six points, eight assists, six rebounds and two blocks
  • Grace Carter scored six points, registering a steal and three rebounds for the Gryphons
  • Josie Kent scored four points off the bench for SLC while pulling down four rebounds

How it Happened

The Gryphons dominated the Panthers from the start, using an early offensive onslaught from Haymore and Anderson-Strawder to get ahead by a score of 13-2. Kent would join in towards the end of the quarter and Grace Carter would also score to give the Gryphons a 17-2 lead after the first 10 minutes of play. The aforementioned scoring duo once again dominated in the second half, with the duo accounting for all of SLC's points until a jumper by Coughlin with 1:15 remaining in the half. Coughlin would then find teammate Ariana Spanopoulos after one of her 10 steals for a fastbreak score to push the lead to 32-18 at the end of the half.

The third quarter was a similar story, with Anderson-Strawder leading the scoring effort and Coughlin getting more involved on the offensive end. The Gryphons extended their lead to over 30 points by the end of the period and in the final quarter of play, scores by Carter and Kent would keep the Gryphons ahead despite a slight resurgence by the Panthers and the visitors returned to Bronxville with a .500 record in conference play.
