Gryphons Travel to Take on Top-Ranked Gothic Knights

JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The Sarah Lawrence men's volleyball team fell to the Skyline-leading Gothic Knights of NJCU on Wednesday night three sets to none. The Gryphons fell by set scores of 25-7, 25-13 and 25-18.

Top Performers
  • Nate Davis led the way offensively for SLC with 13 kills and added 1.5 blocks
  • Jason Ryan Ciron earned a team-high eight digs from the libero spot
  • Kian Silva totaled 12 assists for the Gryphons

How it Happened

The Gothic Knights opened the match with five straight points, but a Jozef Kandrac and Aidan Roney double block and a Nate Davis kill answered the match-opening run. Davis earned a kill and a block of his own, but the hosts pulled away and secured a decisive first-set victory. The second set got off to a close start, with early-set kills by Derek Hickman and Davis allowing the Gryphons to tie the set at three points apiece. A mid-set service ace and a pair of late-set kills by Davis would not be enough as the hosts once again took the set with a Mahmoud Serour kill. A Nate Davis kill opened the third set and the Gryphons would stay close to the tune of a 5-3 NJCU lead. The Gothic Knights would pull away to bring the lead to 15-5 before six more kills by Davis and one by Roney narrowed the lead. The hosts would once again hold on, despite a comeback effort by the Gryphons, to claim a 3-0 victory in the match.
