Gryphons Start New Doubles Pairings Against Bulldogs

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's tennis team fell to Brooklyn College 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon. The Gryphons now sit at 1-1 on the season after defeating John Jay last week 5-4.

  • Samu Gabor lost in singles play in the fourth flight after forcing a tiebreaker set with a 6-3 second-set victory
  • Simon Kopecky slotted in at first singles for just the third time in his career, falling 6-2 and 6-1

The Gryphons fell behind in doubles play, with Kopecky and Devin Derian teaming up for the first time and Gabor and Leon Bronshvag doing the same in the second flight. Nikita Knecht and Noah Morely were the third brand new pair of doubles partners to play on the day for SLC, with a mix up from the opening day match. In singles, Kopecky and Derian both moved up a slot and found themselves defeated in straight sets. Bronshvag's first singles appearance of the season was a similar story, falling 6-0 and 6-1. Gabor's aforementioned tiebreaker set went in favor of Pratt's Ryan Badre-Hume by a score of 10-3 after a 6-1, 6-3 start in favor of Badre-Hume. Knecht and Morley rounded out the singles players for SLC, both falling in straight sets to their opponents from Brooklyn.

The Gryphons (1-1) will return to action on Saturday, March 30th as they return to the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. to take on the Cannoneers of Pratt Institute for a 12:30 p.m. match.
