BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence softball team hosted Manhattanville University on Saturday in Bronxville, falling to the Skyline-leading Valiants 19-0 and 17-0 in the doubleheader. The Valiants are now 10-0 in conference play this season, tied with Farmingdale atop the Skyline.

How it Happened

In game one the Valiants used a six-run first inning and a trio of home runs to dominate the Gryphons offensively. Charli Shinstine and Samantha Walsh combined to strike out 12 Gryphons, allowing just one baserunner on a hit-by-pitch and forcing the remaining three Gryphons to ground out. Walsh earned the victory after three innings of no-hit ball with seven strikeouts. Game two was a similar story, with Manhattanville getting ahead to the tune of an 8-0 lead after just one frame. The Valiants used six hits and another homer to get ahead in game two and their pitching would once again shut down the SLC offense. Vargas's walk in the top of the fourth would mark the lone baserunner for SLC before the Valiants closed out the contest with eight total strikeouts and the second win of the season for Jori Wilkendorf.
