BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's tennis team defeated the Lehman College Lightning by a score of 8-1 on Monday night, using a sweep of doubles play to earn the team's second victory of the season.
Simon Kopecky and
Devin Derian won 8-4 at first singles before
Aidan Roney and
Samu Gabor continued the win streak in the second flight.
Nikita Knecht and
Vance Johnson teamed up in the third flight, taking an 8-6 victory to put the Gryphons up 3-0. In singles play Kopecky and Derian both won in straight sets at their respective flights, with Kopecky winning 6-2, 6-0 and Derian doing so in straight 6-1 sets.
Leon Bronshvag won in the third flight by scores of 6-2 and 6-1 before Gabor retired in the fourth set after a 7-6 first game. Knecht defeated Lehman's fifth singles player 8-5 before
Peter Fathi was victorious in the sixth flight by scores of 6-2 and 6-0.
