Gryphons Host Mariners for Second Straight Skyline Matchup

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's tennis team returned to the courts in Bronxville for the second straight day, falling in a Skyline matchup against the Mariners of USMMA 9-0.

The Gryphons faced off against the Mariners on Sunday, but a tough matchup for SLC would see them fall at all three doubles flights. Simon Kopecky and Devin Derian were able to take a point in the first flight, but Nikita Knecht and Peter Fathi would go down 8-0 as well as Vance Johnson and Noah Morley. In singles play, Kopecky would fall to USMMA's top player 6-2, 6-1 before his doubles partner Derian fell 6-3, 6-0. Leon Bronshvag fell in straight 6-1 sets at third singles before Samu Gabor took two points in the first game before falling 6-2, 6-0. Knecht and Aidan Roney rounded out the singles effort for the Gryphons with shutout defeats.

The Gryphons (1-4, Skyline 0-2) will return to play next Saturday in Bronxville, as they celebrate senior day before their noon match on Saturday against Hunter College before a Skyline matchup with Yeshiva on Sunday at the same time.
