  • Kyra Johnsen reached on a single in game one for the Gryphons

Game One: Purchase def. SLC 8-0

The Gryphons got a first-inning single from Brand in game one, advancing Kristin Vargas to third base, but were unable to drive in the leadoff hitter as the inning ended after the next at-bat. After another Vargas walk in the third, Johnsen singled to advance the leadoff batter again, but a fielder's choice and a strikeout would strand Vargas once again. The Panthers scored five in the second inning, including three RBI base hits and a sacrifice fly. After scoring once again in the fourth, the Panthers headed into the bottom of the fifth with a chance to end the first game. After an RBI single to make the score 7-0, an SLC error allowed the game's eighth run to score and gave the Panthers a day-opening win in five innings.

Game Two: Purchase def. SLC 14-0

The Panthers wasted no time getting ahead in the second game, scoring twice in the first inning to put the Gryphons at a disadvantage. After a quiet second inning from both sides, the Panthers scored again in the third, with their lead jumping from 2-0 to 12-0 following a trio of RBI doubles as the hosts tallied nine hits in the frame to extend their lead. A three-hit inning in the fourth would allow the Panthers to add two more runs and the Gryphons would go quietly in the final two frames to allow Purchase to take another victory in five innings.
