BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's soccer team took the field for the second straight day as they wrapped up the SUNY New Paltz Tournament with a matchup against RPI on Saturday afternoon. The Engineers defeated the Gryphons 1-0, with SLC holding the 2023 Liberty League semifinalists to just one score in 90 minutes.
Notable Performers
- Jozef Kandrac led SLC with two shots, including one on goal in his 47 minutes of play
- Leon Bronshvag put his lone shot of the day on goal, playing 79 minutes for SLC
- Elijah Shohat played all 90 minutes in goal for the Gryphons, saving four of RPI's five shots on goal
How it Happened
The Engineers struck early, scoring in the 15th minute as Kedy Nana took an Oliver Szorc pass and found the back of the net for the eventual game-winner. The remainder of the first half would be quiet, with Shohat making one save and the RPI keeper facing no shots on goal. Kandrac and
Eloy Pampin would both get shots off in the first 45 minutes of play, but neither were able to force the RPI keeper to make a save. Just three minutes into the second half it would be Kandrac to pressure the Engineers' back line, getting into the box and putting a low shot on goal that would be saved, but give SLC some momentum as they were able to get a look at the net. Bronshvag would get his chance on a free kick, putting the ball on the net but getting saved by RPI's Colin Such. Shohat made his final save of the day in the 85th minute, laying out to prevent a second score and keep the Engineers from adding an insurance score.
