How it Happened
Both teams struggled to find a rhythm early on, with the first half ending scoreless despite several chances from both sides. Sarah Lawrence dominated possession, taking 17 shots compared to Old Westbury's 6. However, the Gryphons couldn't break through, thanks to a strong performance by Old Westbury goalkeeper Andy Chacho, who made six saves in the first 45 minutes. The Panthers had opportunities of their own, with Jonah Zalis standing tall in goal for the Gryphons, making five saves in the first half to keep the game level.
The second half continued with Sarah Lawrence maintaining pressure. Finally, in the 55th minute, Leon Bronshvag broke the deadlock with a decisive unassisted goal off a free kick, his second of the season, giving the Gryphons the lead. Bronshvag's goal came shortly after Old Westbury's Tiago Tirado was shown a yellow card, and Sarah Lawrence capitalized on the momentum. Despite the Panthers' efforts to equalize, they managed only three shots in the second half, none of which seriously threatened Zalis. Sarah Lawrence's defense held firm throughout the remainder of the half to secure the 1-0 victory.
