How it Happened
The Gryphons wasted little time asserting their dominance, netting both of their goals within the first 12 minutes of play. The first goal came in the 10th minute when Simon Kopecky scored his first goal of the season, assisted by Aidan Roney and Nikos Diaz. Diaz took a free kick from outside the box, found Roney for one touch as the junior found his senior captain Kopecky for the game's opening score. Just two minutes later, Nicholas Fajardo doubled the lead with his second goal of the season, heading in a pass from teh aforementioned Kopecky to give the Gryphons a two-goal advantage.
The second half saw fewer scoring opportunities, but Sarah Lawrence continued to control the tempo of the game. Despite several attempts from Medgar Evers to find a way back into the match, they were unable to break down the Gryphons' defense. Elijah Shohat, the Gryphons' goalkeeper, recorded one save en route to his second win of the season, as Sarah Lawrence held Medgar Evers to just one shot on goal throughout the contest.
