BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's swimming team fell to William Paterson and St. Joseph's Long Island in the season-opening Gryphons Sprint Invitational on Saturday, but standout performances from both
Andrew Kim and
Patrick Rau highlighted the day for the Gryphons.
Kim started the team's day off with a dominant victory in the 50-yard breaststroke. The junior finished with a time of 28.79, leading all other competitors by nearly two whole seconds. Kim followed up his standout first performance with another win in the 50-yard freestyle, touching the wall with a time of 22.45 that was nearly three seconds ahead of the second-place finisher and under a second off the school's all-time record. Rau joined in with a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing with a time of 1:01.90 which led all Skyline swimmers. Another top-two finish went to Rau in the 100-yard freestyle as the senior completed the event in 56.48, beating out a pair of SJLI swimmers and a competitor from William Paterson. Rau's third top-two finish of the day came in the 100-yard breaststroke, once again pacing all Skyline swimmers as he touched the wall in 1:15.26.

The Gryphons will return to the pool on Saturday, October 25th for another home meet, this time hosting Bard College, Maritime and Merchant Marine. The meet will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Campbell Sports Center.
