PURCHASE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's soccer team defeated the Manhattanville Valiants on Tuesday night by a score of 2-1. The Gryphons got a second-half score from Katey Beaver to break a 1-1 tie and earn another Skyline victory.

Notable Performers
  • Chloe Barker opened the day's scoring in the 9th minute
  • Beaver broke the tie in the 70th minute
  • Bella Vaca played all 90 minutes in goal, making a trio of saves in the win

How it Happened

The Gryphons came out strong, creating early pressure that paid off in the ninth minute when Barker scored her first goal of the season off a corner from Emma Mangan to give SLC a 1–0 lead. Manhattanville equalized in the 20th minute as Stephanie Sanchez found the net off a feed from Noemi Montenegro, but the Gryphons continued to generate chances through Hannah Chaffin and Viktoria Balbin before the half, keeping the match level at 1–1.

Sarah Lawrence took control after the break, dictating play and creating a series of dangerous opportunities. Beaver fired several shots on goal before finally breaking through in the 70th minute, finishing from close range to put the Gryphons back in front 2–1. From there, SLC continued to press forward while staying organized defensively, with Bella Vaca making key saves on late attempts by Drita Tinaj and Johanna Gibson to preserve the lead.
