11.11.25

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's volleyball team saw a trio of student-athletes named to the Skyline All-Conference teams on Tuesday afternoon, as a pair of outside hitters were named to the first team, while a first year made it onto the second team.

Senior outside hitter Athena Kazos earned her third all-conference selection and her second straight first-team honor after finishing second in the conference in most offensive categories. Kazos finished behind only Sklyine Player of the Year Loren Hernandez in both kills and points per set while helping the Gryphons to a third consecutive Skyline Conference Tournament appearance. On the season, Kazos has amassed 290 kills and 252 digs, both leading the Gryphons, while the senior surpassed both the 1,000-kill and 1,000-dig marks, becoming the first player in program history to accomplish both.

Nikolet Vataj followed up a 2024 Rookie of the Year campaign by joining Kazos on the first team, giving her two all-conference appearances in two seasons with the Gryphons. Vataj put up impressive numbers of her own this season, compiling 255 kills and 235 digs and moving herself into third place all-time in kills for the Gryphons. Vataj put up eight double-doubles this season, including a 20-20 performance in conference play. The sophomore will continue moving up the record books, challenging Kazos for the top spot in a variety of categories by the end of her career.

First-Year setter Sophia Costa was named to the Skyline's second team after stepping in to run the Gryphons' offense this season. Costa boasted over eight assists per set, ranking her 83rd in the nation as of Tuesday, November 11th. The first year contributed all over the floor for the Gryphons, adding 184 digs to her 658 assists and combining for 27 total blocks on the season, all top-three on the team.

Kazos, Vataj, Costa and the Gryphons take on Farmingdale State tonight at 6:00 p.m. as the two teams battle with a trip to the Skyline Semifinals on the line. Live video and stats will be provided and are available at the links below
