Notable Performers
How it Happened

The first set was marked by a strong stretch of serves by Calle-Schulz, carrying the Gryphons to a 12-0 advantage. After an SLC error, a kill by Lucas Buckley got the Gryphons back on track, starting a 4-0 run as a trio of Aidan Roney aces followed the first year's score. Perhaes then closed out the set with seven of his 17 aces on the night, giving SLC a commanding one-set lead. Nate Davis and Calle-Schulz both tallied kills early in the second, but it would be five more aces by Perhaes that put the Gryphons ahead 9-2. After a Medgar Evers score, The Gryphons took seven straight points, including a pair of aces by Davis. A kill and ace by Nathan Dreger pushed the Gryphons closer to a two-set advantage before a pair of service aces by Calle-Schulz sealed a 25-6 second-set victory. The third set saw a trio of SLC errors tie the match at three points apiece, but another five aces by Perhaes helped the Gryphons pull away once more. Kills by Roney and Dreger, along with a trio of Jozef Kandrac aces, helped the Gryphons move closer to victory and after a pair of late Perhaes kills, a MEC error secured the three-set victory for SLC.
