Men's Tennis Earns Second Consecutive Victory with Win at USTA Tennis Center

FLUSHING, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's tennis team won their second straight match on Saturday afternoon, taking down the Hunter College Hawks by a score of 4-3 at the USTA Tennis Center, the home of the U.S. Open. The Gryphons earned four singles wins en route to a match victory after losing the doubles point to the Hawks.

Simon Kopecky and Jules Voorhoeve continued their winnings ways with SLC's lone doubles victory. The pair took down Hunter's pair in a 7-4 tiebreaker to win at the first flight. Both of SLC's remaining doubles pairings, Dylan Bernard/Avery Romano and Noah Morley/Max Gleason fell in competitive sets, with the former being defeated 4-6 and the latter 3-6. In singles play, the inverse would be true, as Kopecky and Voorhoeve fell at first and second singles while the other four Gryphons helped the team to a come-from-behind victory. Voorhoeve fell in a closely-contested match, taking the first set 6-3 before 5-7 and 4-10 defeats to Hunter's Raymond Leu. At third and fourth singles, Romano and Bernard would avenge their doubles loss, with each player winning a 6-3 set as well as a 6-2 set. Gavin Wright earned a win at fifth singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-3 before SLC's Pete Fathi earned a match victory for the Gryphons with a pair of close victories. The first set went the way of Fathi 7-5 before a 6-4 record sealed the win for SLC.
