BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence softball team fell to Old Westbury in a pair of Skyline softball matchups on Monday afternoon. SLC senior
Sophie Grenke broke up OW's no-hit bid with two outs in the fifth inning of game one before the Gryphons fell 11-1 in game two.
Notable Performers
	- Shirin Pechefsky tossed eight innings for SLC, striking out six and forcing 10 groundouts
- Isabella Zuniga threw two innings for the Gryphons, retiring five batters via groundouts
- Grenke's lone hit of the day was the aforementioned no-hitter breaker in game one
- Kyra Johnsen's leadoff double in the fourth inning of game two eventually brought her home for the team's lone run
How it Happened
The first game was all Panthers, as the visitors opened the day with five straight hits en route to a five-run first inning. They added on seven more scores in the second as they cruised to a 15-0 victory. Grenke's single down the right field line was fair by inches as it broke up Layla Ramos's no-hit bid. OW's starter tossed a complete game shutout with eight strikeouts and no walks, allowing just two baserunners. Game two was a similar story, with a 7-0 Old Westbury lead after two innings before Johnsen kickstarted the SLC offense with a double in the fourth. After a groundout to the right side by Pechefsky moved Johnsen to third, catcher
Isabella Boissonnault grounded out to the pitcher, but Johnsen was able to score on the play to break SLC's drought and bring the score to 7-1 Panthers. A trio of singles and a pair of errors by the Gryphons allowed the guests to score four times in the top of the fifth and take an 11-1 lead. SLC went down in order in the bottom half of the inning as Old Westbury secured a pair of Skyline victories.
