BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence softball team fell in both ends of Saturday's doubleheader against Purchase College. The Panthers outscored the Gryphons 21-0 on the day, including a no-hit victory in the day's finale.
Notable Performer
- Kyra Johnsen singled in game one before two walks in game two and a stolen base
- Issie Boissonnault earned the team's other hit in game one with a first-inning single
- Shirin Pechefsky pitched all 10 innings for the Gryphons, striking out five and forcing 14 groundouts
How it Happened
The Gryphons had a quiet day offensively, with Johnsen and Boissonnault putting up a pair of hits in game one and Johnsen's two walks providing the only two baserunners in the second game. Purchase's pitching held the Gryphons in check while 25 hits across the two games plated 21 runs for the Panthers. Johnsen stole second in the first inning of game two, but Purchase's catcher would throw out SLC's leadoff batter attempting to take third, ending the inning. The Panthers got ahead in the first in both games, with a four-run outburst in game one and a lone score in game two allowing them to hold the lead throughout the entirety of the doubleheader.Â
