BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's tennis team defeated the Valiants of Manhattanville by a tally of 4-3 on Friday afternoon, securing a program-best seventh win on the season. The Gryphons took down the Valiants for their third Skyline victory of the season and their fourth win at home, both best marks since 2017 for the program.
The Gryphons took home wins at third doubles, fifth singles and sixth singles against the short-handed Valiants, but it would be strong performances from a pair of SLC seniors that secured the victory for the hosts. In doubles play, seniors
Simon Kopecky and
Dylan Bernard would earn a 6-3 victory in the second flight, allowing the Gryphons to take the doubles point.
Jules Voorhoeve and Avery Romano teammed up at first doubles, falling 6-1.
In singles play, after default wins at fifth and sixth singles, SLC fell at the first three flights. Kopecky fell in 6-2, 6-3 sets before Voorhoeve fell 6-0 before a 7-6 tiebreaker went the way of Manhattanville. Romano played the closest match of the three at third singles, with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-7 defeat against the visitor's third singles player. Bernard once again secure the match-winning victory for the Gryphons, this time with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 showing in the fourth flight to give the team their seventh win of the season.
