BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence softball team earned their first win of the season against York College on Saturday, with
Shirin Pechefsky tossing five no-hit innings and fanning six Cardinals in the win. The Gryphons plated 11 runs as eight different players reached base in the win. The second game was postponed midway through the fourth inning due to weather.

How it Happened
The Gryphons got going early, scoring six first-inning runs thanks to a pair of singles and four walks by the Cardinals. A costly three-run error by the Cardinals helped the Gryphons take a 9-0 lead into the third inning as Pechefsky continued to blank the visitors. The Gryphons would plate two more in the bottom of the third, highlighted by an RBI triple off the bat of
Gabby Hudson. Pechefsky closed out the game with a strong fifth inning, as a leadoff walk was stranded after a strikeout and a pair of groundouts. Pechefsky fanned six batters, forced three flyouts and four groundouts in the win, allowing six baserunners across her five innings of work.

The Gryphons (1-12) will return to action on Sunday as they start Skyline play with a doubeheader at New Rochelle's Flowers Park against the Maccabees of Yeshiva University. The Gryphons will look to build off the momentum of Saturday's win as they head into conference play.
