NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Sarah Lawrence men's soccer team opened its 2025 campaign on Friday evening, falling 5–0 on the road against SUNY New Paltz. The Hawks struck early, finding the back of the net in the 5th minute before adding three more goals in the first half to carry a 4–0 advantage into the break.
Notable Performers
- Jonah Zalis played all 90 minutes in net for SLC, totaling eight saves on 13 chances
- Eloy Pampin led the Gryphons with a pair of looks on goal, one in each half
- Asefa Thome started his sophomore campaign with a shot on goal in the 6th minute
How it Happened
The Gryphons generated several strong offensive chances in the contest.
Asefa Thome forced a save in the 6th minute, while
Peter Miles put pressure on the Hawks' defense with two attempts, including a strike that went wide in the 22nd minute.
Eloy Pampin tested both opposing goalkeepers, sending a shot on frame in the 21st minute and another in the 76th minute that was turned away.
On the defensive end,
Zalis kept the Gryphons within reach with a busy night between the posts. Zalis recorded eight saves, highlighted by stops on dangerous efforts in both halves.
