YONKERS, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's soccer team opened their 2025 home slate with a 4-1 win over Brooklyn College thanks to a trio of first-half goals. Senior forward
Peter Miles found the back of the net twice to lead the Gryphons over the Bulldogs.
Notable Performers
- Miles opened the night's scoring before adding his second score to give SLC a 3-1 lead before halftime
- Jonah Zalis made eight saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal
- Leon Bronshvag and Eloy Pampin also scored for SLC, with Pampin assisting Miles on his second score
How it Happened
The Gryphons opened the day's scoring in the 15th minute, despite playing a man down after an early caution. Senior
Aidan Roney sent a ball downfield for Miles, who beat the keeper for his first score of the year. Three minutes later, a pass into the box for Brooklyn and a left foot to the bottom right corner tied the game. Five minutes would pass before another SLC senior would have a chance to score, this time Bronshvag would have a look at goal. The senior midfielder would find the left post before collecting his own rebound and putting the hosts back on top. Deja vu would then strike as Miles would once again be the recipient of a long ball, this time taking Pampin's pass and finding the bottom left corner of the net to put SLC up 3-1 at the intermission. The second half would be quiet from a scoring perspective, with Pampin scoring the lone second-half goal with a long-range connection after taking the ball from a Brooklyn defender. Zalis kept the Gryphons ahead with some impressive second-half saves and the Gryphons continued to pressure the Bulldogs offensively, preventing the visitors from getting too many offensive chances of their own.
