ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's soccer team fell to the Raptors of Bard College on Wednesday night by a score of 2-0. The Gryphons, whose offense has surged as of late, were held to four shots on goal in the contest while goalkeeper
Jonah Zalis turned away eight shots from the hosts.
Notable Performers
- Zalis totaled eight saves in 90 minutes of play for the Gryphons
- Aidan Roney put one of his two shots on goal for SLC in the first half
- Eloy Pampin's potential equalizer in the eighth minute was stopped by the Bard keeper
How it Happened
Bard opened the scoring early, striking in the sixth minute through Luca Costanzo, and doubled its lead in the 37th minute when Mateo Betelu found the net. The Raptors carried a 2–0 advantage into halftime, but momentum briefly shifted when Bard's Henry Skeltis was shown a red card just before the break, leaving the hosts down a player. In the second half, the Gryphons pressed to get back into the match and nearly pulled one back when Connor Saul earned a penalty kick, only for Bard's goalkeeper Jake Sudit to come up with a crucial save. Sarah Lawrence continued to push numbers forward and created looks from Peter Miles and Aidan Roney, but they couldn't break through against a resilient Bard back line.
