Skyline Weekly Awards 9-15-2025

9.15.25

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Skyline conference announced its third weekly awards report on Monday afternoon, naming a pair of Gryphons as recipients of awards. From the women's volleyball team, a player of the week, and from the men's soccer team, an offensive player of the week.

Senior outside hitter Athena Kazos was named the Skyline's Player of the Week after a 40-kill effort across three Sarah Lawrence victories last week. The senior posted a pair of double-doubles as the team swept Saturday's tri-match against Curry and Saint Joseph. Kazos totaled 40 kills and 33 assists, solidifying her plInstituteace atop the Skyline leaderboards in a variety of statistics, most notably leading the conference in both kills per set and points per set. Kazos and the Gryphons are now looking forward to a weekend of tough competition as they travel for three matches at Stevens Instititute of Technology, taking on the hosting Ducks as well as the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons on Friday night before a Saturday matchup with Springfield Colllege.

On the pitch, it was Leon Bronshvag who shined for the SLC men's soccer team. The senior opened the week by scoring in the team's shutout victory over Medgar Evers before capping it off with a brace in Saturday's contest against John Jay. The two goals in Saturday's conference single-handedly erased a two-goal deficit for SLC, drawing the teams even before teammate Henry Seas won the match in the 81st minute. Bronshvag now has four goals on the season as he climbs up the SLC career leaderboard. SLC men's soccer returns to play on Wednesday night as they head to Jamaica, N.Y. for a 3:30 p.m. matchup with the York College Cardinals.
