Women's Tennis Moves Above .500 with Road Win in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence women's tennis team continued its strong 2025 season with a road victory over the Brooklyn College Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon. The Gryphons won the doubles point before the bottom of the lineup swept in singles play, including a pair of three-set victories, to secure the win.

At the top of the lineup the Gryphons battled in some impressive matchups, with Neomi Spellman and Josephine Jackson dropping a 7-5 decision in doubles as the team's lone doubles defeat. Spellman also drpoped her singles matchup before Jackson was faced with a three-set battle in the second flight. After rebounding from a 5-7 defeat, the sophomore battled back for a decisive 6-2 second-set victory. The momentum would swing back the way of the Bulldogs in set three as Aniyah James won another closely-contested set to take the second singles matchup. Zoe Kovac and Viha Shah, who teamed up for a 6-2 doubles victory, each took their respective singles matchups in very different fashions. Shah dominated at fourth singles, winning in straight sets by scores of 6-0, 6-1. Kovac, on the other hand, had a tougher test at third singles. The senior rebounded from an early 4-6 defeat to take the final two sets by scores of 7-5 and 6-1. Colleen Coughlin and Serafina Panuccio, who took a third-doubles victory, each took care of business in singles as well, with Coughlin winning in three sets and Panuccio sweeping in 6-1, 6-3 sets.
