Miles Converts Free Kick as Men's Soccer hosts Dolphins

YONKERS, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's soccer team got a second-half goal from leading scorer Peter Miles, but it would not be enough as the Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins departed from Fleming Field with the Skyline Conference victory on Saturday night.

Notable Performers
  • Miles scored his fifth goal of the season on Saturday on a free kick from just outside the box
  • Joseph Vaca played all 90 minutes in goal for SLC, making a pair of saves in the loss
  • Leon Bronshvag pressured the UMSV keeper with three shots on goal
How it Happened

The Dolphins grabbed control early, striking first in the 16th minute when Sebastian Mesa converted a penalty kick. Just four minutes later, Jose Gonzalez doubled the lead off a setup from Anthony Rochester and Trevor Pegg, giving the hosts a 2–0 cushion. The Gryphons generated chances through Bronshvag and Morris Monaco Collins before halftime, but went into the break trailing by two.

In the second half, SLC created more consistent pressure, with Bronshvag forcing multiple saves from goalkeeper Samuel Reine and Connor Saul and Peter Miles both testing the back line. The Gryphons pulled one back when Miles buried a shot on a free kick opportunity in the 85th minute to make it 2-1. The comeback effort was short-lived, however, as Mount Saint Vincent answered quickly with a goal from Javier Trujillo in the 89th minute to seal the match.
