Men's Basketball Wraps up Regular Season Slate in Bronxville against Valiants

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Sarah Lawrence men's basketball team fell to the visiting Valiants of Manhattanville in the team's final regular-season home game of the 2025-26 season. With the third seed in the conference locked up, the Gryphons will wrap up the regular season on Saturday at Mount Saint Mary.

Notable Performers
  • Gavin Wright led the team with 10 points off the bench, adding in a pair of assists
  • Chris Dougherty continued to rack up the rebounds, pulling down a game-high 14 while scoring nine points
  • Eamon Kelly totaled seven points and six rebounds for the Gryphons

How it Happened

The teams battled early, with a Dougherty triple tying the contest at seven points apiece before the senior went to the line to give the Gryphons a 9-7 advantage. The Valiants answered back, but Thomas Matonti connected from distance to keep the Gryphons ahead. Manhattanville took the next seven points to open up a four-point advantage. Aiden Morel connected on a triple, but the Valiants maintained the lead, keeping a score up on the hosts throughout the half. Wright immediately made an impact off the bench, including a last-minute three-pointer that put the Gryphons within six at the break.

The teams traded scores to open the second half, but after that, the Valiants would take 10 straight points and open up a 16-point advantage. Kelly answered with five points while Burman and Dougherty added scores, but the visitors maintained a double-digit lead. Gabe Downes connected from deep and Elias Flaim converted on a three-point play, but the Valiants would hold on for a late-season win that could very much secure them a spot in the Skyline Championships.
