How it Happened
The Bulldogs jumped ahead early in game one, with five first-innings runs and a 12-0 lead after three frames putting the hosts in control. The Gryphons responded in the top of the fourth as Rode walked before stealing second with one out. After a strikeout, an error by Brooklyn College allowed the sophomore to score and get the Gryphons on the board. An inning-ending strikeout would limit the damage, and the Bulldogs would hold on for a 12-1 game one victory. In game two, both teams struggled to get on the scoreboard, with two scoreless innings on both sides before a pair of Brooklyn scores in the bottom of the third frame. Koenig walked to open the fourth frame before Rode singled to center field despite Koenig being cut down at second. Rode proceeded to steal second before a double by Pechefsky to bring the sophomore around for the second time on the day. A groundout ended the inning, but the Gryphons trailed by just one run after four-and-a-half. The hosts tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the inning before three more scored in the fifth inning to end game two and secure a sweep of Saturday's doubleheader.
