PURCHASE, N.Y. - Sarah Lawrence softball's
Malia Rode added another extra-base hit in the team's doubleheader on Saturday, continuing a strong season for the sophomore. The Gryphons fell in a pair of 10-0 contests to the hosting Panthers despite Rode's work at the plate.
Notable Performers
- Rode reached base three times in the game, including on her extra-base hit in game two
- Caileigh Koenig tossed four innings, striking out a pair and inducing eight groundouts while registering a hit
- Shirin Pechefsky tossed all of game two, striking out one batter
How it Happened
The Panthers jumped ahead to the tune of five first inning runs in game one while tacking on six in the second inning of game two as each game saw the hosts ahead early. The Gryphons got a pair of runners in scoring position early in game one thanks to a Rode walk and a Koenig single, but an inning-ending strikeout would strand the duo on the bases in what would prove to be SLC's best scoring opportunity of the day.
Isabella Boissonnault would catch a runner at third in game one, providing strong play behind the plate while adding a single in the fourth, but it would not be enough as the Panthers walked away with a pair of conference wins on their senior day.
